おめでたくない話題
明けましておめでとうございます。今朝白馬から帰ってきました。さてこのページではあまりニュースサイトにリンクを張った、ニュースの紹介記事は書かないというスタンスで（勝手に）やっているのですが、今回は敢えて引っ張ってきます。
というYahoo!ニュースからの記事。あまりの積雪のため、未圧雪（パウダー）ゾーンのくぼみにはまってスキー客が窒息死したという事件です。
死者が出たのは「Hakuba47」スキー場ですが、すぐ横の「白馬五竜」で前日まで一日中パウダー喰いを繰り返していたぼくとしては複雑な思いです。実際、パウダーで頭から転んだ時はしばらく息が出来なくなることも日常茶飯事で、単純に状況が酷けば自分にも十分にあり得ることだとと考えると、まったく人ごとですませられる話ではありません。もし天候が前日と同じような状況だったら、山の上の視界はおそらく10mそこそこしかなかっただろうし、一人でそんなところを滑っていてふと姿が見えなくなったとしても誰もフォローできなかったはずです。
スキーを履いての入山であればもちろん２人以上での行動が原則となるのですが、たとえスキー場でも視界の無い吹雪のような悪天の時は油断していると大変なことになるという訓戒として受け止めようと思います。
それにしてもどうして新年っておめでたいんでしょうね? 他の月の１日も、週の初めも、だれもおめでたいなんて思わないのに。
