コウモリがコウモリであるということ
ネコ温度計がハロウィン仕様になっていますね。あまり日本人にハロウィンのシーズンという概念は強く存在しないようですが、突然コウモリが出てきたことには驚きました。
先日バイクで帰宅し、バイクにカバーをかぶせている際に、すぐ横の植込みからコウモリが飛び出してきて、ものすごく驚きました。夜だったし、はっきりとその姿を確認したわけではありませんが、その飛び方といいサイズといい、きっとコウモリだったのだろうと想像します。身近にコウモリを見たことは嬉しかったのですが、あまり単純には喜べません。
コウモリはコウモリであるというだけで、どうも驚いてしまいます。様々な媒体からの情報で、イメージが先行しているので、「コウモリ＝驚く」の法則ができてしまっているのではないかと思います。これじゃ「ゴキブリ＝気持ち悪い」とあまり変わりありません。漢字で書くと『蝙蝠』。なんだか『髑髏』を連想するのはぼくだけでしょうか…
